Alexander Behnaz, MD

Dr. Behnaz is a highly skilled physician specializing in Interventional Pain Management. With a strong focus on improving patients’ pain and function, Dr. Behnaz adopts a multimodal, whole-patient approach to ensure accurate diagnosis and compassionate treatment.

Dr. Behnaz completed his fellowship training in Interventional Pain at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). During this fellowship, he gained extensive expertise in utilizing advanced interventional techniques to alleviate pain and enhance patients’ quality of life. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Behnaz completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His residency training took place at Sentara Norfolk General and Portsmouth Naval Hospital, where he honed his skills in diagnosing and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions. Prior to that, he trained at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Dr. Behnaz is particularly skilled in performing electrodiagnostics to diagnose nerve problems accurately. This enables him to develop tailored treatment plans for patients based on a comprehensive understanding of their conditions. He is also proficient in conducting diagnostic and therapeutic image-guided injections, as well as utilizing spinal cord stimulators and peripheral nerve stimulators to manage chronic pain effectively.
