Mir Namath Ali, DO

Dr. Mir Namath Ali is a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician and is fellowship trained in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine. He performs a variety of diagnostic, therapeutic and image-guided procedures for management of disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal systems including: epidural injections, nerve ablations, peripheral joint injection, spinal cord stimulator trials, trigger point injections, kyphoplasty and ultrasound guided injections.

Dr. Ali has a true passion for rehabilitation medicine by restoring movement and function to his patients to help with daily activities and improve their quality of life. He plans to take a multimodal and holistic approach to patients with a primary focus on accurate diagnosis of painful spine and musculoskeletal conditions; working together to formulate the best treatment plan. He is also well trained in Electrodiagnostic medicine (EDX) that will help aid in the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions.

For his undergraduate studies, Dr. Ali attended Kent State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology with minors in both Biology and Chemistry. He then completed medical school at Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, where he received specialized training in electrodiagnostics, ultrasound guidance, musculoskeletal medicine, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. During this time, he also had the opportunity to present case studies at national conferences and speak at local seminars.

Following residency Dr. Ali underwent specialized training at a Nationally recognized North American Spine Society accredited fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine Virginia iSpine Physicians in Richmond, Virginia. During his fellowship year, he learned the art of minimally invasive and percutaneous spine and joint procedures. He was the sub-investigator on numerous research studies to help advance the field of treating spine and joint pain. Some of this cutting-edge research includes peripheral nerve stimulation to reduce spine and musculoskeletal pain, regenerative medicine targeted at replenishing lumbar disc material, and studies determining the efficacy of bio-restorative intra-articular injections for painful knee osteoarthritis.

Dr. Ali stays up to date with the latest treatment options through numerous academic and professional organizations including the North American Spine Society, North American Neuromodulation Society, the Spine Intervention Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr Ali is a Bryan, Ohio Native and in his free time, he remains active in cardiovascular and resistance training, enjoys all things athletics, traveling, attending concerts, Jeopardy!, keeping up with the NBA and spending time with his family and significant other who is a Kindergarten teacher in Bethesda.
