Dr. Brandon Selby Blanken is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon specializing in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. He emphasizes conservative treatment first, believing surgery should only be pursued after options like bracing, injections, medications, and physical therapy have been fully explored. His clinical expertise spans foot and ankle trauma, sports injuries, minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures, total ankle replacement, flatfoot and arthritic foot reconstruction, limb salvage, and care for patients with hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Dr. Blanken completed his surgical residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School (now Old Dominion University) at Norfolk General Hospital, a Level I trauma center, where he served as Academic Chief Resident. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Secretary of the Maryland Podiatric Medical Association, and participant in the APMA Emerging Leaders Program.
A Montgomery County, Maryland native, Dr. Blanken earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland before completing podiatric medical school at Temple University. Outside of medicine, he enjoys golf and ice hockey and spends time with his wife, Bethany, and their dog, Chester.
