About
Dr. Brandon Selby Blanken, DPM, FACFAS, DABFAS is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon specializing in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. He believes surgery should only be pursued after thoughtful, patient-specific conservative treatments—such as bracing, injections, medications, and physical therapy—have been fully explored. His clinical expertise includes foot and ankle trauma, sports injuries, minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures, total ankle replacement, reconstruction of flat and arthritic feet, limb salvage, and care for patients with hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Dr. Blanken completed his surgical residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School (now Old Dominion University) at Norfolk General Hospital, a Level I trauma center, where he served as Academic Chief Resident. His training included extensive collaboration with fellowship-trained podiatric, orthopedic, plastic, and vascular surgeons, equipping him with a comprehensive, modern approach to complex foot and ankle pathology. Prior to joining the practice, he most recently practiced as an associate at Blanken Foot and Ankle from 2023 to 2025. He is actively involved in professional leadership as a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Secretary of the Maryland Podiatric Medical Association, and a participant in the APMA Emerging Leaders Program.
A Montgomery County, Maryland native, Dr. Blanken earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, where he played ice hockey all four years, before completing podiatric medical school at Temple University. Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing golf and ice hockey and spending time with his wife, Bethany, and their dog, Chester.
