Dr. Craig Person has lived and trained around the country. After attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and the University of Central Oklahoma, he graduated with a BS in biology. He attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma. After obtaining his MD degree, he began his surgical training at the State University of New York where he did his general surgery internship and residency.
He then moved to St. Louis to do his plastic surgery residency at St. Louis University. It was during this time, that he honed his skills managing the soft tissue injuries of the hand, wrists, and upper extremity. After finishing his plastic surgery training, and desiring a more bone and joint exposure to the upper extremity, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona to complete an orthopedic fellowship in hand surgery through Good Samaritan Hospital. After that, he did additional microvascular training at UCLA.
Dr. Person has practiced in the DC area for 25 years. He is board-certified in plastic surgery and has been certified as having Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand (CAQH). In addition, he is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).
He treats all bony and soft tissue injuries of the fingers, hand, wrist, and forearm. He has presented at national and local meetings and has mentored medical students, PA students, and nurse practitioner students for 20 years. He has also done mission work in foreign countries.
In his spare time, Dr. Person enjoys swimming, skiing, backpacking, and mountaineering. He enjoys spending time with his wife (a nurse practitioner) and his two daughters.
